Blow The Horn & Temp Indicator Goes Nuts? 700 1992

Ok, I am trying to work through all the weird kinks on my new-to-me 1992 740 non-turbo wagon. I noticed something weird with the temperature indicator last week. Today I think I nailed it down. It seemed to be fluctuating erratically with no rhyme or reason on my way to work. On my way home I hit the horn and noticed the indicator went nuts. It was then that I noticed I could trigger the erratic behavior at will by hitting the horn. Obviously something electrical is going on here. What should I look at? What is the connection between the horn and temperature gage? Thanks again!
