The Clutch Report 120-130

Clutch test as suggested by George and Matt. Passenger side wheel up on jackstand and wheel off the ground. Driver side wheel/tire fixed on ground.

Tranmission in neutral - passenger side rear wheel and drive shaft spins freely.

Transmission in 1st gear w/ clutch out - rear wheel will not turn
Transmission in 1st gear w/ clutch depressed - rear wheel will not turn!

Transmission in 3rd gear w/ clutch out - rear wheel will not turn
Transmission in 3rd gear w/ clutch depressed - rear wheel did not turn at first but broke free with a modest amount of coaxing and continued to turn freely thereafter.

Clutch fork movement is 3/4" to 5/8" from rest. With clutch out the fork is resting on the slave cylinder rod adjusting nut and can be forced by hand about 1/8" toward the back of the car.

Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Thanks much,

Joe M in WV
