1970 1800E Cuts Out 1800

A friend's 1800E is being restored but the shop has a problem they cannot solve. The shop can start and drive the E around the block then it seems to cut-out. I suspect after a period of time it will restart, so this must be some electrical problem - ECU, sensor, or other. Can anyone who has experienced a similar symptom, help with the disgnosis? I am somewhat interested since I have a 1971 1800E that is a future restoration project and may need some similar disgnosis. My last experience with a B20E was in a 1971 142-E, but that was 30 years ago! Thanks.
