In regards to the discussion of perhaps not needing a relay... You need to ID what overdrive you have. A D-type overdrive requires use of a relay, a J-type (later) does not (I have no relay on my J-type). D or J type is identified on the tag on the OD. They have solenoids on different sides, but I forget which is which...

Or so I've heard...

Of course, if you are using a momentary switch (doesn't sound like you are), you would need a relay in there either way.
