Hello,
I have an 86 240 wagon. When I bought the car a couple months ago I found that the airbox thermostat had been replaced in March and since the car had what felt like a lean miss I suspected the AMM might have been fried. I purchased a used AMM on ebay and it didn't improve the condition at all. Then I found Art Benstein's recommended test for AMMs and tried it on mine. They both read ~1.24v with ignition on, engine off - way below the 1.5v he said was failing. They do vary with airflow and with the engine running output is ~2.2v - again lower than Art recommended.
There are a couple of AMMs on ebay right now that say they've been tested. There is also a junkyard nearby with many 200s and I think I've got a decent chance of finding an AMM there. My question is how do you guys recommend choosing a junkyard AMM? I can't use Art's test so what should I do?
