New O-rings in OD, Now won't engage on load. 200 1986

I just put in new O-rings in my M46, and now it will only engage with no load on it (foot off gas pedal) and above 2800rpm, as soon as gas is applied, the OD comes out. So, at 3400 rpm in 4th, I take my foot off the gas pedal and engage the OD, and the rpms go to 2800, as soon as I apply the gas it jumps to 3400rpm (OD is out).

Nothing happens when I try and engage the OD with my foot on the gas pedal. Will shift in (rpm decreases to 2800) and out(rpm increases to 3400) of OD when my foot is off the gas pedal.

This is a '86 240 M46 J-type overdrive that had the original o-rings on the pistons with the blue teflon band over the O-rings.

Did I need to replace the pistons? I reused these pistons with standard piston o-rings (I got from Duane-odguru), not the oversized later style o-rings/pistons.

Paul
