is it safe.....opinions please 200

yesterday i repaired my sons 93 sedan... rear brake line.

it was leaking along the line that sits on the rear axle heading towards the left wheel. no lines were available so i cut off the bad section and used a compression fitting. (i always carry a few in the glove box) to seal off the leak as he needed the car early today. after driving it breaking hard for a bit i determined the repair is sound and leak free.

now i wish to ask the board. i have done this for myself many times with complete success and never worry about it. however i have never before repaired ....someone else's.... car in this way least of all one of my kids.

do you think i need to return asap and replace the line or is this a sound method of repair?
