Oil in intake on 240, non-turbo 200 1987

Hey all, hope this is not a redundant question, but I have a 1987 240DL auto with 54,000 mi. on it, and I've had it for a few weeks. It has a mild surge at idle when the motor is hot and the car is in gear. Reading around, I heard the first thing to do is clean the throttle body, which I did. When I removed the air intake hose from the throttle body, I was surprised to find that there was engine oil in it. I also found a broken vacuum elbow when I was poking around, which I think may be the real culprit of the idle issue. I read in another post that the oil in the intake is common in the naturally aspirated motors because of the flame trap drawing crankcase gases into the intake. I am sure that the flame trap needs cleaning, which I am going to do soon, as I don't want to blow any seals, lol. Should I be concerned about the seals? It does not seem to be leaking any oil. I just wanted to make sure that this is not a major issue, since the car is in very good condition and runs well. Also, the last person who changed the oil may have overfilled it. (It does take 4 quarts with the filter, right?) It reads high on dipstick. I think it may have had 5 quarts put in instead of four. Could this be contributing to the oil in the air intake? Is it ok to drive it like this, or should I try to drain out the extra oil? Sorry to make my first post so wordy.
