What To Do With An '81 Volvo ???? 200

Hello. I am going to be given a 1981 Volvo in mint condition with believe it or not only 28,000 miles on it. It is an automatic sedan. Owned(original owner) by an 86 year old lady who drives it rarely and then just a couple of miles locally. While I most certainly do not want to seem like an ingrate frankly it is pretty darn sluggish compared to my '87 auto and '86 stick shift. I realize it is an older model and only is a three speed auto. However can anything be done to pep it up somewhat ? Can I put an overdrive on it ? Or maybe a higher gear ratio rear differential ? Would a tune up help it much ? Or maybe just let it be and consider it a collectible ? Thanks(and no I do not want to sell it).
