LONG POST ... SORRY! I am having trouble with the site tonight, so this may be posted twice.
From the original post: "Failed the emission tests...had a nox reading 25/25 of 1690 (allowable is 1121) and a 50/15 result of 1967 (allowable is 1227)."
Did the lucid trick, complete tune up, throttle body cleaned, new FPR, cleaned the ICM, then had it tested the second time and the 25/25 passed and the 50/15 failed at 1453 (just approx 200 ppm above allowable).
Well, I have done the following since the last test:
new o2 sensor and verified the voltage going to it
Changed the timing from 12 degrees btdc to 14 degrees ... runs much better
Continued with lucid's suggestions of plugging the ignition module
Plugged the vacuum line going to the FPR according to suggestions
Ran 2 cans of gas treatment through it (conklin products that are mostly methanol)
Had it re-tested today and the readings are much worse than before. The reading that was passing (the 25/25)now is failing at 1512and the 50/15 was 2217 where as before it was 1453 before...where the heck have I gone so wrong? Changing the timing? The gas treatment?
Is the next step a new cat?
Any help and or advice is appreciated, as usual.
