Do I have a failing fuel pump???? 200 1986

Well, last night, I had to call for a tow home. I had been sitting in the parking lot with the engine running for about 30 min or so with the a/c on and the engine temp was perfect. All of a sudden, shudder, shudder.....then the engine dies and won't restart. After about 3 minutes, It restarted, but ran rough and died again less than a block down the road. I replaced the fuel pump relay with a spare, but it didn't help. I call for the tow truck. While waiting for them, about 30 minutes after it had died, I was able to restart it. I let the tow truck do its thing not trusting the car to make the 40 mile journey home. This morning, again it restarted fine and I then opened the gas cap and could hear the in-tank pump just screaming away. I had replaced it a couple of years ago with one from AutoZone, so a replacement is free, but I just want everyones opinion that this is most likely my problem.

Thanks for looking.
