Many of us know that headliners are one of the first interior pieces to wear out on these cars. My ol' 1964 had a terrible headliner so, as an ambitious teenager, I got a gently used one and tried to install it. The result was a lost weekend, a torrent of swear words and a pretty bad look.

So I found a guy today in Salt Lake who does this for a living and knows all the secrets. He can have the pattern sewn off tracing my worn-out one or he'd prefer I get a high-quality pre-sewn headliner.

After a search of the archives, the only advice I could find from 122 owners was: don't buy a JC Whitney because it required lots of cutting and re-sewing.

I called Yankee Trading in Pennsylvania and they wanted over $200 and a wait of four weeks, more than my budget.

Do any of you have a good experience with an aftermarket headliner?
