Transmission problem 900 1996

Dear Sir:

I have a 1996 960 Volvo sedan. The transmission fault arrow or W mode has been sticking and going back and forth between the W and E mode. It will come out of the W mode if you accelerate and the arrow will flash for a couple of days and then go off. The check engine light will remain on untill it is turned off.

The PNP switch was replaced 5 or 6 weeks ago. It has done it again. The machine or computer shows nothing.

The ignition switch has been hanging up also. You have to push it in to then get it to come out of Park and to have the lights etc work. Is there any association between these two things? The mechanics are not anxious to change the ignition switch.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks! Judy Greer
