how to remove side body molding 200 1983

Car is '83 240 turbo. It's time to start thinking about getting it repainted, and I'm after instructions on removing the side molding that runs the length of the car (pieces for the front, doors, and rear sides) and the rocker molding. Lots of older posts about molding, but I didn't find anything with specific details on the technique for removing the molding. Is there a trick to getting them off without damaging the fasteners or do I just pry the molding off sacrificing the fasteners if they break? Also, IPD sells replacement rocker molding clips. Do the molding strips along the side take the same clips? Probably simple answers, but thought better to ask than be ignorant. Thanks.
