Drag coefficient for a 122 120-130

Shannon, thanks for that URL. Very useful for at least 2 reasons – picking vehicles that might be close to the Amazon in Cd, and also to validate my calculation for the power required to offset air drag, which it did. Some of the other stuff on the Mayfield site is interesting as well.

After perusing the various cars represented in the Mayfield database, I have decided to use a conservative value for the Amazon of .45.

I came across another site containing an online calculator that includes the effect of both rolling and aerodynamic resistance. It was intended for cycles and buggies but it works for motor vehicles as well. Check it out at http://buggies.builtforfun.co.uk/Calculator/index-imperial.html.

And thanks for your suggestions regarding the learning opportunities for my son (and for me as well). Finding the time is always a challenge.

Cheers,
