Very bizarre spark, yet no spark! 140-160

You may need to turn the engine over to get a spark from the coil wire.
On a point system the only way you could get it to spark just turning the
switch on and off is if the points were closed. Same principle will apply
on solid state, so if it is at rest in a position where the coil primary is
not "on", you won't get a spark.
