Head Overhaul ( not the one above my shoulders) 200

I've grown rather tired of the "Diesel" knock coming from piston 2 - after doing some considerable reading on all the options for a head rebuild i've decided to ask what's going better out there for fellow bricksters

I know i'm consuming oil like an 83 suburban and i'm sure it's in the head.
I know not to mess with the valve springs but what other variants can i go with as far as upgrades?
Sodium Valves?
VX cam vs. ST Canadian cam?

I'm looking to remove a head off a '87 - '90 B230f have it rebuilt and ported then swap them out... (keep in mind i'd really like to do this myself)

Tim
