heater control valve failure? 200 1988

I have a 1988 volvo 244 and found that I could not get the heat off the other day. Is this the result of a failed heater control valve? If so, where is the best place to get the best quality replacement? The temp lever has always been very stiff in this car, so this seems like it might be the problem. is there an adjustment to fix mine as it does not leak. Thanks for any advice and happy bricking.
