I need to redo my engine harness. It's creating all sort of funky issue. The wiring insulation is exposed inside the wire mould.
I've done a search on the brickboard and I'm inspired by past successes folks here (Big Harry and Simon Eng comes to mind) have had doing their own harness.
I'm in the process of getting the stuff I need. My main supply would be sherco auto. 3 questions were not addressed in the old postings nor in the FAQ.
1. I have 3 inline fuse (soldered type) - it has a sticker stating it's amps. I have a 3A, 5A and another I'm missing the sticker. Can anyone recall what the amps are and why these fuses are in the engine bay and not in the fuse block below the ashtray?
2. Where can I source the original wire moulds? I have to cut these open as I discovered some of the wires had melted and stuck onto it. These are the black plastic sheath covering the harness. Any other alternatives? Am thinking of using Flexible split loom instead as I can't find these wire moulds?
3. Any other sources besides Volvo for the OEM releasable cable ties that secure the harness? This would be the finishing touch to make everything look neat and tidy. Mine are crumbling away. These cable ties are not your ordinary ones. I discovered there 2 varieities used which was not mentioned in the FAQ nor in the archives. One that has a stud mount and pushes into holes on the chassis. Another type has a slot on it's base and hooks onto this small 'nail head' located along the firewall and strut towers. Wondering if there's a better aftermarket alternative? Or is volvo is the only source?
Thanks
