Window regulator bug 700

Today I changed out the drivers window regulator to get the window
to close properly.

I found a bug in the track in the door as follows:
When the regulator arm is horizontal (window part way up)
The stud in the door extends to the far left and the retainer clip was
hitting the door slot. I slid the nylon tuning fork shaped bushing out half
way and used a dremel tool to grind away about 1/16" of the left cutout in
the door track to provide clearance for the stud with the clip on.

Now the window seems to seal OK in the upper rear corner. I cant determine exactly what is wrong with the old regulator though, there's some slop in the pivot near the sector gear and motor? a puzzlement. Perhaps that binding
tweaked the stud at the door track slightly, enough so the window didn't close right.

Any ideas?
