OK My first post. This forum has been very helpful so I'm hoping for the best!
Im having a drain on my battery while I'm driving at night with the radio playing. I live in San Francisco and drove to Pacifica and back( 20min to half hour round trip). When I got back to the city the lights started to dim and fux with the turn signal and brakes being aplied. I turned off the radio but it then stalled. After a jump it ran fine with lights on (no sterio)but still had dimming when using signals and brakes.
I have just put in a new 100 amp altinator(problem happened before and I thought the 80amp altinator was old and couldnt keep up the charge. The old one tested fine but replaced it anyway). Any way it happened again!
Did the check for shorts with light meeter. No shorts. Had battery fully chared at Kragen and was fine until tonght(first time driving at night "long distance" with sterio on the new alt.. I do have a 600 watt amp BUT I had no problem like this with the same sterio system in my 280Z. Is the alt. unable get its full charge to the batter? Bad wires or conections?! I havent tested the volts yet. HELP!!!!
