92 740 running odd

hey all.

i have a 1992 740 wagon and lately as i am cruising usually happens over 50+ mph range... the car kinda skips. i just changed the spark plugs and wires thinking it was an intermittent wire or something.. but its still doing it. my next step is the distributer cap and ignition coil because they are pretty old and i have been having problems with starting and my mech. said check out the coil. Has anyone ever seen this or had this happen before and what did you do or find to be the problem? it COULD be trans. related as this trans. was used when installed from a junk yard. any help is really appreciated. Thanks guys.
