Loose shifter 200

The shifter (4 speed automatic w/OD ) in my son's 86 240 caused me to make a 20 mile trip thru downtown, rush hour traffic yesterday.

I made the run in my trusty 85 245 work wagon with the ladders tied on the top, so I felt pretty secure.

Anyway.....The shifter has become loose, which allowed the pin to drop out of the park switch, which stopped the car from cranking.

My question...
Since I've never had any problem with these shifters, I don't how they're mounted.
There seems to be (2) bolts thru the floor pan (from the bottom) that thread into the shifter and secure it to the floor plate.
One seems to be missing and the other is really loose.
Do I have to get under the car to tighten the bolts?
Is this probably what caused my problem?

All replies are appreciated.
