Strange ABS issue 900 1994

Hi All
A couple weeks ago I had my ABS light stay on for the first mile or two when I left in the morning. Per FAQ I decided to clean the reluctor wheel and sensor tip. They were pretty nasty. Its amazing that the system even works based on the degree of corrosion on the wheel. I cleaned and lubed the sliders and scuffed rotors and pads(as they looked a little glazed). I do believe I will be replacing the front calipers soon as the left front seems to not be exerting full stopping power(pulls to the right slightly and left pads getting less wear). But heres my dilemma, the Abs light has stayed off so Idecided to test the ABS function. I was heading down my road and it was nice and wet and leaf covered and I locked up the brakes...I slid!! No ABS pulsation at all. And the kicker is my ABS light never came on! Could my marginally functional left front caliper be the culprit? Why didnt the light come on? Any advise appreciated.
Matt
