New (to me) '80 245 with a few issues plus '81 fuel smell 200

Hi there... Just picked up a '80 245 from its second owner (My current daily driver is a '81 242 I got from the second owner -- what is with my cars and second owners!?) Anyway, the 245 has a few issues and I turn to you for feedback before I dig in (winter project: fix steering rack, suspension goodies, etc).

1. The A/C and heat blower was working fine but now it's dead. There were no symptoms like high-pitched noise or clunking before it gave up the ghost. The paperwork from the PO shows that he replaced the blower motor, so I am guessing it may be 1) switch; 2) relay or 3) fuse. Am I on the right track?

2. The auto tranny is significantly louder and vibrates more in Park rather than Drive. Do I need new U-joints?

On another note, my '81 242 smells like fuel when I turn off the engine. I've replaced the fuel filter. What else should I look at?

Thanks, collective wisdom of Brickboard!
