1990 740GLE / electrical problem/ caused by lightning? 173K 700

I was offered a 1990 740GLE is very good condition that has been sitting about 2 years after it quit a few days after lighting struck a tree on the property.
These people had 2 vehicles both of which had electrical probs after the strike.

I am told the car ran for a couple of days after and just quit. The shadetree mechanics here don't want to mess with it. No rust, paint decent, interior VG.

Timing best was changed before they got it and they said the brakes and air were working fine.

Need a day of cleaning it up to be very nice looker. Getting it running again it the question.

Any advice on how to proceed?
I am very familiar with the 8V from my '89 740 but this is more challenging...

Thanks
