240 virgo tire size feedback 200

Feedback for anyone in my situation. I have a 1988 240 wagon, stock 14" steel wheels, wanted to add some pizzazz with some 15" Virgo alloys.

After much research found that the 205/65/15 tires were the closest to stock diameter.

Ordered some and had them mounted. Well, they may be the correct diameter or the closest to it in a 15", but IMHO they looked horrible on the car, way too balloon-like, made the car look like a 4x4. After a few days of struggling with this, I decided I hated the goofy look and ordered another set of tires, this time 205/60/15. Despite what seems like a small difference from 65 to 60 series, this is a major aesthetic difference and the 60 series look great on the car. I agonized over whether to waste the cash on new tires over this small of a size difference, but after having them mounted, well worth it. Car no longer looks like a moon rover.

So, FYI, in my opinion, skip the 65 series, forget about any small speedo discrepancy, and go with the 60 series if you are pondering Virgos for your 240.

Thought maybe this would help someone out before you waste money like I did. Heck, then again, if you like the Jeep effect on your Volvo, you may want to stick with 65s...ymmv
