Are you sure your flickering dash lights are not just the rheostat?

Try turning it back and forth with the lights on and see if that makes a difference. I have experienced dirty contacts on the rheostat. If you are lucky, just moving the knob back and forth may clean them up a bit.

Occasionally, my dash lights will go out if I bump the knob while cleaning the dash.

What kind of "malfunction" are you experiencing with the temp. gauge?
