Change of engine from 16-valve to 8-valve 700 1989

I am considering chaanging the engine of my 89 740 GLE 16-Valve to one from a 86 GLE 8-Valve. Reason? It is about to round the 300,000 miles and it is showing signs of wear, such as waiting to turn off the oil pressure warning light for 30-60 seconds - but only sometimes. I have not been able to get a 16-valve engine and I have two 8-valve engine - one of them with only 105,000 miles on it.

My questions are: Are there any proplems in doing this? Are there any parts/interfaces, wirelooms etc that are not compatible?

Any advise or experiences on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Henrikb
