intermittent downshift from overdrive, faulty relay? 900

Hello out there! I have a 940 sedan 1993. My daughter drives the car usually, so I seldom get a chance, and when I do, everything seems fine. Lately she is saying the car acts like it shifts out of overdrive on the highway, and the engine revs to 3000 rpm, with no downshift light arrow going on, on the dash. Is it possible to have a faulty od relay that would do this occasionally and not all the time? When I drove the car, it acted fine, after she said it was doing this.
thanks,
