Jutefelt removal? Removing the entire carpet and stubborn underfelt material? 120-130

Hey all,

this may be common knowlege to some but i am currently mystified as to how to do this most effectively. Spent all last night applying an adhesive-remover- goop to the dried hardened material that was adhered to the floor after i pulled up all the jutefelt. I assume its a mixture of jute and whatever factory adhesives they used 40 years ago to keep it all in place. Ive managed to get some of it off with repeated scraping of a plastic stripping tool. Does this sound like the normal procedure? Do i just continue applying this goop, letting it sit and soak and then scrape etc etc.. Or is there some miracle adhesive/jutefelt remover substance out there that someone knows about? Would love any suggestions.

cheers

j.
