M46 OD 200 1980

Hopefully some B'boarder can shorten my troubleshooting time on this. My 240 has an M46 and the later (1983) wiring. OD is engages with button on top of knob, not the older slide switch. After many years of perfect function, I now have problems. The first time in the am I engage the od, it works fine and will stay engaged as long as I need it. Next time it's maybe. Occasionally, the od light comes on miles after the button is pushed and the od engages at that time. When thoroughly warmed up, the od rarely engages. I've ruled out the 4th gear switch. Any suggestions? Relay, Selenoid?

Thanks
