Glove box lock 900

I can't open the glove box in my 95 945. Don't know when or why it happened, but when I turn the knob it doesn't release the catch. I'm assuming it's locked and that a locked mechanism allows the knob to turn without engaging the release. The ignition key doesn't fit the glove box lock, and I don't have any other keys. The FAQ suggests that to remove the glove box I have to remove two screws from inside the cover, which I obviously don't have access to.

I can't produce my registration should I be stopped by a cop.

Any suggestions?
