Hesitation, hunting idle and surging. CURED! 200 1984

Bought 84 wagon w/ 220K in Feb 07. Auto tranny contained coolant. New radiator, filter and line flush...some improvement. Hesitation lack of power and surging idle. 9 months and 10K miles later, pump in tranny is trying to seize, causing the engine to surge and hesitate (not to mention the clutch packs turning to mush). PO didn't tell me he drove the car for 6 months with strawberry milkshake in the transmission. Found that out later. Installed used tranny. Hesitation and surging gone & has power to spare (if there is such a thing).

Just thought this might be of help to those with similar issues. Wish I'd known about the tranny pump before spending bucks on electronic and fuel system pieces. But hey, I have an almost new 23 year old car. Good for another 230K miles.
