745: how to identify worn front strut inserts? 700

Hi all,

just replaced front strut inserts in my '90 745 turbo wagon at a shop and asked to save the parts. Turns out that the old ones are marked with 'volvo'. Replaced with OEM Sachs Super Touring (are these good? comparable to Boge?).

Interestingly, the old strut inserts can be pushed in by hands easily. Then they would very slowly move out. How can one judge the condition of the struts?

Thanks,
W.
