Speedometer / Odometer question of swapping parts 200 1988

Need electronic advice.

I have 2 K10042 speedometers for my 244DL

1.) The speedometer quit working on the original, but the odometer works.
2.) The odometer doesn't work on the second, but the speedometer works. The odometer problem is not the small gear issue so prevalent, as I have a new gear in place.

Question for those with knowledge. The small circuit board that we lift off to change the small odo gear has 2 wires going to it (if I remember right). Do you think I can snip the wires and connect the working odo board with the working speedometer and end up with both features working?
