Instrument Cluster 200 1991

On the back of the last few years' instrument clusters for the 240, dead center, at the bottom, is a tiny circuit board under a white plastic cover. Does anyone know what this little creature is for? It seems to be connected to lighting somehow and I'm wondering if it isn't yet another voltage regulator. The one on my 91 seems to be twisted, perhaps cracked, or at least deformed and the cover is missing, but as far as I can tell everything is working!

Thanks,

DS
