an oily spark plug 700 1991

I just changed the plugs on my 1991 740 b230 sedan, with "only" 150,000 miles and noticed that the plug nearest the firewall was oily, the others were fine...which I assume are failing rings or valve guide (?)...and also noticed an emerging oil habit.

The car has been well maintained since new.

On my 73 VW bug (which I still have!) the #3 cylinder is prone to problems, due to the thermo of the engine. Does the 740 have "wear prone" cylinders as well?

Any immediate thoughts on a likely cause, based on other's experiences?

thanks
