Slipping traction with a standard tranny sounds like it needs a clutch.
Or maybe a clutch cable adjustment, if it has a cable.

Did you replace the clutch when you rebuilt the tranny?
How long ago?

There was a thread here a couple weeks ago posted by a guy considering buying a 260 series. You should read that for its information on the V6 engine failure modes.
