level of difficulty - replacement of power steering pump 91 745 700

Hi Chris,

I just swapped in a boneyard P/S pump into an 89 740.
My pump was working but leaking with a badly worn bushing/bearing whatever.

The hardest part was getting one of the fittings off and I needed to resort
to a carefull application of heat to get it to break loose. Otherwise it was
an easy job. I had the belly pan off for other work so you could get at
the mounting bolts from up top or from the bottom with no big deal.

It may be that your belt is loose or the pump itself is loose on the
mounting bracket. Check that out before replacing stuff.

You might take the suggestion to flush and refill if the pump shaft isn't
leaking or real sloppy.

Good luck, Bill
