Stoplight bulb 1990 240 200

What type of light stop light bulbs do you use? Ive always used type 1157, I needed to replace one last night, in the parts store the look up table indicated a P21/5 Candle Power:35 / 1.2
Electrical Rating:12 Volt 21/5 Watt

the P21 was $3 more than a pack of 1157, I bought the 1157's. It maybe a dumb question am I missing something?

I know the bulb out indicator needs similar resistances between bulb pairs or it will show a failed bulb. If both left and right side are matched, I dont think it should make a difference. The P21's might be marginally brighter
