Please help me to understand


I have a 1996 960 with some problems at the moment. I'm at the point that maybe I need to get rid of it. It has 150,000 miles on it.

I'm going to have to put a used transmission in it evently if I keep it. It has a new PNP switch but it did not fix it. It is going into the W mode and showing S 2 solenoids on the computer but they are clicking which I am told that means it is in the transmission itself.

Now the check engine light is coming on especially if it idles in Park for just a few seconds. It will stay on a day or so and then go off for a day. The codes it is showing are EFI 4-5-6 misfire #6; 5-4-3 n 1 cyl; and 2-3-3 long term idle air. No. 2 and 6 coil packs were replaced this summer, also it has new Bosch spark plugs and an ignition switch. The coil connection is good.

If I have a serious problem other than the transmission, please share.
