Hi brick-drivers!

I had my windscreen replaced yesterday. When the old glass and its sealing rubber were out, there was a lot of surface rust in the frame, not deep, but still enough to cause rain penetration (hence having the windscreen replaced).

The guy doing the job put a black priming compound on the frame before applying the silicon sealant/glue and the glass on top, saying that this would retard the rust (a bit).

Any views, on how to sort this out - the glass is in now and I only have limited access under the rubber trim...

Just a comment on relative costs... The job total was nearly $700, about the value of the car in UK. But she is such a beautiful old girl and a joy to drive, even though I also have a T5 850 and a V70 which have their own qualities...
