Sealing threaded fuel connector-Teflon Tape? 120-130

I just replaced my adjustable fuel pressure regulator after the first one sprang a leak.

The new one (Mr Gasket) came with an assortment of brass fittings to adapt it to different size fuel lines, but upon installation of the fitting, I found they were leaking around the threads. I removed the fittings and wrapped some teflon plumbers tape around the threads, which stopped the leaks, but I'm concerned that this might not be a permanent fix... so, what should I use for this application?

I wish I could just find a new fuel pump that would put out the 2.5 PSI that the Mikuni's want and not have to bother with one more piece (regulator) to break or leak. My current pump is a Scantech.
