have a 1987 740 sedan with 275,000 mile and 1990 240 with 230,000 miles. i was wondering if it would be a good idea to replace the fuel pumps as a preventative maint item. Fuel filter has always been changed on both vehicles as specified intervals. just don't want to get stranded as both cars are daily drivers and primary means of transp. for wife and I. Try to fix things prior to braking. JMSH
