Thanks Eric, I have pulled the gear now and whatever happened was certainly professionally repaired. Once I get the cam out and see what the general condition of lobes and bearing surfaces is, I will decide on whether to spring for a new camshaft. If I go for a new one I'll contact one of you guys for a nut.
What do you refer to as a "white box" cam? I am looking at Isky W 71; is that a bad idea?
