Fuel Pump Check Valve question...anyone else had problems? 200 1989

I bought part #1587010539 from FCP, Fuel pump check valve for 83-93's. Doesn't fit. The other one they have is for turbos, which mine is not, and the third is for older models and by the picture definitely is not the right one.

Interesting thing is that my new valve has the little valve parts inside (kinda a miniature version of thermostat innards), but the old valve has nothing. Strait through. No innards.

HERE"S THE PROBLEM:
The new valve has the same end and threads that go into the fuel line to filter as my old valve.
BUT...
on the new valve, the end that screws into the pump is one: larger in diameter and two: has finer threads than the old valve.

Of course I will call FCP on this, but from what I see on their website, they don't have what I need.

Has anyone else experienced this in replacement? Should I attempt to get my fuel pump model number and then go to a dealer the correct valve? Maybe better luck with Tasca?
