used strut, now what 200 1993

I just got a used strut out of a 91, however it does not appear to have the hole for the ABS sensor. How do I go about separating the strut tube from the hub so I can reuse the hub part of my existing strut assembly? I hope I am not confusing terms here - in attempting to change strut inserts on my 93 I butchered the threads where the bung nut holds the insert to the tube - I would like to retain as much of the existing strut assembly as possible as for the most part it is in better shape.

Thanks,

Ron
