Not so sure about all this tire overinflation...the "max psi" rating on the tire is what it says it is. The car manufacturer specifies the optimum pressure (as listed on the door sticker) for ride/handling at normal loads, if you inflate your tires to max psi you will compromise the handling of your car, it's up to you whether you still feel safe and whether it's worth the few % gain in MPG. If you go above max psi as printed on the tire not sure how quickly the risk of a blowout increases, but the tread will wear out in the center of the tire rather than evenly across the width of the tread.
