88 240 battery terminals: pos on which side?

My '87 240 should be the same as an '88...

Negative (blue sheathing on the cable) should be near the fender. Positive (red of course) should be near the engine, away from the fender where it could short out in the event of an accident that causes the battery to shift over.

I've seen early 240s with the positive cable next to the fender.
